Geoinformatics in Dairy Farming: Present and the Future

Abstract
Organized, coordinated and hosted many events on days of national importance, launching of national schemes and programme, kisan melas, kisan goshties, awareness camps, technological exhibitions, etc. in SKUAST-Jammu and ICAR-IVRI. Delivered one radio talk on AIR, guided one unemployed person to start dairy farming in Bareilly and developed a mobile app named “IVRI-Waste Management Guide” after conducting MVSc research in Punjab. Submitted three idea-based projects, one each to Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR, FAO), Department of Science and Technology (DST, GoI) and Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in various competitions organized by them. Extensively authored extension literature in Punjabi, Hindi and English for farming community in the form of 45 popular articles, 09 international blogs, 53 folders, 07 field manuals, 02 booklets and 02 books on various aspects of livestock farming. In terms of ICTs, developed 03 mobile apps (02 in Punjabi), 02 expert systems, contributed in 11 documentaries, administrate 01 website (www.vetextension.com), 01 Facebook page, 02 WhatsApp groups and member of many farmer groups on social media for dissemination of information through digital means. Obtained 02 IPRs in the form of copyright for mobile apps. Attended and participated in 07 workshops/trainings, 07 conferences/seminars and completed 07 online courses from various universities. Conferred with many awards and professional recognitions, prominent being those by Union Minister of Agriculture and IIT-Mumbai. Possess a never-ending passion for extension and connecting to the people.
