The effects of information and communication technology on at risk children of low economic status: Make It-Take It Case Study

Abstract
The Institute for the Study of Digital Inclusion’s (ISDI) promotes digital inclusion through dispersion of computers and technological knowledge to at risk children of low economic status within the State of Florida. The goals of this study were to determine: 1) Will providing the children with computer skills and knowledge influence academic performance? 2) Will digital literacy increase student’s commitment and desire to actively participate in the learning processes? Our findings indicate a direct increase in academic performance and more active participation in learning processes by students that completed the Make It-Take It program.
