The status of information and communication technology in a coastal village: A case study

Abstract
Kovalam is one of the coastal villages at Southern Tamil Nadu, India. A VKC has been initiated by the local Parish Council to serve the villagers with the e-governance, e-agriculture, e-education, e-health and other services at free of cost. The main livelihood for the villagers has been fishing for decades. This paper is aimed to study the consequences of the technological adoption through the intrinsic case study methodology. The study has also included interview and discussion techniques to get the real situation. The users of the Kiosk, the boundary partners and the knowledge worker were contacted to collect data. The study revealed the influence and the role of kiosk in the lives of fishing community.
